Have you ever had that feeling where you are so thirsty, yet nothing can seem to quench your thirst?

Did you know that once you are thirsty, you body is already dehydrated? And at that point your body is not just asking, but begging for water, fluids, hydration.

Did you know that your body is made up of more than 60% water? That means that your skin, lungs, organs, kidneys, and brain all require water to function and keep you functioning.

A staggering 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated and playing catch up every time they reach for a drink of water.

But sadly, many don’t fully realize that this is 100% fixable and preventable and can assist your body in doing a possible 180 when it comes to health and wellness!

What if many of your problems have nothing to do with everything and everything to do with the fact that you, my friend, are dehydrated and possibly have been for a very long time?

Do you struggle with:

  • Fatigue
  • Chronic thirst
  • Bowel emptying
  • Foggy memory
  • Irritability
  • Sluggish metabolism
  • Kidney stones

 

The above are all very common occurrences but all trace back to one thing- water! You can survive 21 days without food, but barely four days without water, before the body starts shutting down. This precious gem called water is required for every single cell in your body to keep doing its thing every single day. And if most of America is walking around dehydrated, it’s no wonder so many other health issues seem to follow.

But why drink water? For starters water:

  • Increases brain power and provides energy
  • Promotes healthy weight management and weight loss (yes you heard me)
  • Flushes out toxins
  • Improves your complexion
  • Maintains regularity
  • Boosts immune system
  • Prevents headaches
  • Prevents cramps and sprains

 

Long story short, feeling better is literally one drink away, so why wouldn’t you do it?

How much water should I drink?

Most people are not drinking nearly enough water and that can be a huge contributor to why they feel the way they do. First things first, recognize that you need to drink more water and take inventory of what you are currently drinking. Is it healthy? Is it loaded with other ingredients that you and I both know your body does not want or need? And ask yourself if you can start to replace those beverages with water.

The goal is to drink about half your body weight in ounces. So that means if you are 200 lbs., you need to drink 100 ounces of water PER DAY. Or more specifically .6 x your body weight in ounces.

If you live on the road this can be a challenge, so here are a few tips to help get that guzzling in during the day. Try getting up 45 minutes to 1 hour before you must be on the road and right away drink eight to ten ounces of water before you eat or drink anything else. And bonus, add a little lemon to your water to help balance your Ph in your gut, cleanse your body, and add some tasty flavor.

Consider your next stop and start to fuel up yourself 45 minutes to 1 hour before your stop, to help you figure in time for the bathroom. Also, don’t forget to hydrate in the evening as well. When you are done for the day, grab that water bottle and fill up!

Keeping track of how much you drink is the best way to ensure you are getting enough fluids. Using the same reusable water bottle each time can help you calculate how much you need and have already drank to ensure you meet your mark. So instead of thinking in ounces you can just think in bottles.

How to choose a water bottle:

There are many things to consider when choosing a water bottle. Most importantly, whatever gets you to hydrate and drink more water is a win. But winning can also be wasteful, investing in a reusable water bottle can not only be great for you on-the-go, but great for the environment and your wallet.

If considering plastic, make sure it is PVC free and BPA free.
